We provide high quality explosive testing capabilities like those used by government test ranges, but at small-business prices. How? Well, the technology for explosive testing has been around for decades, and is available in limited supply on the "surplus" market. But until now, the specialized expertise required to use it existed almost exclusively in government laboratories. It's not about having the latest technology. It's about having the right knowledge, expertise, and experience. We are a small company founded by experienced explosives researchers using the same technology used at government ranges, but because we're a small company our overhead is much, much lower than at large organizations. That's how we can offer government test range capabilities at small company prices.
Nanosecond Timing & Control
Some explosive systems require initiation at multiple points with high spatial and temporal precision to function properly. And for most systems, comparison against computer models requires precise timing of collected data with respect to the detonation. Our Labview-based data acquisition and control system provides sub-nanosecond control and recording across multiple firesets and a wide spectrum of diagnostics.
High Speed Imaging
High speed imagery of detonation events can be extremely helpful in understanding phenomenology and for comparison against computer models. We have multiple high speed rotating mirror framing cameras capable of framing rates up to 5 million frames per second. Our high speed streak cameras can measure relative timing of optical events to sub-nanosecond resolution. All of our high speed cameras can be synchronized to the detonation and cross-timed to each other and to other diagnostic data.
Other Advanced Diagnostics
With 40 channels of long record, high-speed digitizers we're well equipped to capture data from all types of sensors, including pressure, strain, piezo-pins, optical pins and others. We're constantly working to expand our capabilities. We now have two 800 keV flash x-ray systems and one 180 kV system to provide multiple x-rays per event. Optical Doppler Velocimetry and/or VISAR is next on our list of "coming-soon" capabilities. Optical velocimetry is a very powerful tool, providing shock arrival time and pressure, as well as velocity vs time over a significant travel distance.
