Do you have a concept, but don't have a design? We can help! We've designed various shaped charges, a flux compression generator (shown above), and a recoilless gun, and we've participated in the design and testing of countless other energetic devices. Working in concert with our modeling partners, we can quickly convert your concept into real-world hardware, test it, optimize it, and provide 3-D CAD models and limited production quantities of actual hardware. We use 3-D solid modeling with finite element analysis as needed to validate our designs, and then turn those designs into limited quantities of hardware in our CNC prototyping shop. For larger quantity production we use several local precision CNC machine shops to build components, which we then inspect and assemble. The images above illustrate the progression of a flux compression generator from concept to solid model to hardware.

3-D Solid Model Design

The use of 3-D solid models greatly accelerates the evolution of design concepts into hardware. All components can be modeled and mated into "working" assemblies for easy visualization. Design errors, such as interferences, are easily identified and corrected prior to any machining operations, saving time and money.

Finite Element Analysis

Some energetic systems must withstand heavy acceleration or mechanical loads before they are allowed to function. Performing finite element analysis on 3-D solid models of components and assemblies is a good way to identify possible problems early in the design. Our FEA software is integrated into our solid modeling software, making it fast and easy to iterate to a workable design.

CNC machining

Our prototyping shop is well equipped for quickly building small quantities of precision parts for test and evaluation. Our capabilities include: a 4-axis CNC router with a 60"x96"x14" work volume, a 4 axis CNC mill, lathes, metal shear, tracer punch, bending brake, press brake, TIG and MIG welders, and a host of other tools for converting designs into hardware.
